3. We obey the Bible

Liquid error: internal

The Bible is an ancient book. In fact it is a library collection of 66 books all written in different styles by different authors. So what makes this book so special? Why would anyone want to live their life through the guidance of this book?

Dive Deeper

What is the core of our faith: the Bible. It's more than just a book. It's God's voice reaching out to us, offering guidance and hope. This session dives deep into why the Bible is foundational to our lives and encourages you to use it effectively.

The Sports Movement is built on this amazing foundation – the Bible.

Why is the Bible Important?

The Bible is more than just a book. It's a collection of God's words, a message sent directly to us. Here's why the Bible is so important:

  • It’s God's Revelation: It introduces us to God, who He is and His plan for rescuing all people (Hebrews 4:12-13).
  • It’s an Urgent Message of Salvation: It reveals Jesus, our Savior, offering us hope and forgiveness now (2 Timothy 3:16).
  • It’s a guide to living God's Way: It provides practical guidance for living a life that pleases God.
  • It is God-Breathed Authority: It's God's inspired word, essential for obedience because it comes straight from Him.

More Than Just Words: Using the Bible Effectively

Understanding the Bible isn't just about reading the words. Here are three key ways to use it:

  • We try to Understanding it Faithfully: We must actively listen, study, and understand each verse in its context (2 Timothy 2:15).
  • We actively obey what it says: We don't just read, we put the Bible's teachings into practice in our daily lives (James 1:22-25).
  • Relevant Communication: The Bible's message needs to be communicated clearly and understandably to those we connect with. We need to use creativity, wisdom and humility as we explore it with others. (2 Timothy 3:16, 4:2-6).

Obeying the Bible: A Journey, Not a Destination

Obeying the Bible isn't a solo act. Obeying the Bible isn't about achieving perfection, none of us can. It's a continuous journey of transformation guided by God's word. It requires:

  • Prayer: Seek God's guidance and strength to follow His teachings.
  • Commitment: Decide to live a life based on the Bible's principles.
  • Accountability: Surround yourself with people who will support and encourage you on your journey (John 12:49).
