Our aspiration for sports leaders and teams can be summed up by Ephesians 4:13 (NIV): “… until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

Chapter 4 emphasizes the collective over the individual. In the NIV translation, “we” is repeated four times, “body” five times, “one another” twice, “each other” once. In v11, Paul tells us that Jesus gave gifts. The purpose of the gifts is made clear in v12 and in v13. Paul tells us about the desired outcome for how the gifts will serve to equip and build up. Paul includes himself when he says “... until we all …”. None of us are perfect. None of us have arrived. We are on a journey of maturing. We need much grace for this. Many in the world of sport have begun this journey, and many more still need to embark on this journey.

Since 2019, we have wrestled with the question of – How to multiply the number of mature and maturing sports leaders and teams 10X in a post pandemic era?

Our current season (2019-2024) focuses on the “athletes” (sports leaders and teams) who are in the “race”. The “race” we run is of making disciples in all nations for Christ in the world of sports, play and fitness. Our nine Heart Values and The Way That We Serve (ethos) unite us across 240 countries, islands, and territories. The ReadySetGO strategy and library developed between 2012-2019, helps us to envision, and to equip sports leaders and teams to make disciple-makers who make disciple-makers for the work of Going to All People, Places and Sports (GAPPS). The desired outcome is to see mature and maturing sports leaders and teams develop and multiply to reach the GAPPS so “… the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14)

To improve the athletes’ endurance, race performance, and race outcome to claim the ultimate reward, we are developing the “Core resources” in 7 categories: Vision & heart, Bible handling, Disciple-making, Character formation, Wholeness in body & mind, Wholeness in spirit, and Team development.
